Recently, a series of misfortunate events/bad choices led to a move, a two hour move. Originally from the Crawford County area surrounded by MY side of the family and just HIS father, I decided we would pick up and move to Pittsburgh, where the rest of his family lives.
My family, never very emotionally close, and we all talk to eachother in a manner that i don't consider to be "family," but we all know that if we need ANYTHING, evey last one of us/them would be there! Now, I have only been around HIS family for two years, and what I have heard from numerous family members talks about what a shitty mother he had, and an abusive alcholic that she left his father for.
Giving everyone the benefit of the doubt, because I don't let other people decide what and who I am going to like, I got to know as many as I could. We moved in with his mother, we were staying there for about 3 weeks, and previously we had stayed there for a week, accidentally. Our ball joint was all messed up. For that week, we provided $100.00. After our trip down to stay because I thought that I couldn't handle my family, we:
1. Provided $320.00 for food.
2. Woke HIS mother up everynight between 11-11:30pm for work.
3. Got up with a 14 year old at 6:30am, and then a 7 year old at 7:00am. Made sure they both showered, and did the normal morning thing. (had to help the 7 yr. old with his homework in the morn.)
4. Then had to remain awake due to the fact that my 1 year old son would then wake up.
5. Cleaned, which included:
a. Dishes
b. Sweep/mop (on hands and knees)
c. Bathroom - toilet, tub, general pick up
d. Living room - sweep, general pick up
e. Cook Dinner
f. Dishes AGAIN
g. General Cleanup AGAIN
Yes, this would normally be my normal life, but with my son, as in ONE child. Her 14 year old even said that his mother did NOTHING since the day we arrived, that she expected me to do EVERYTHING, including the general care for them.
The idea was to go down there, stay with HIS mother for a month or two, save money, and get our own place. She expected us to pay $600.00/MONTH. Mind you, her rent is $600.00 all utilities included, and to continue buying food. Oh and did I mention that we didn't have a bed to sleep on? Yea, HIS loving sister, the day his mother told her we were staying, she decided she needed it back when it was given to the 14 year old.
Now, in Crawford County, ME and HIM have our own place being built, and as of right now, we both have a bed to sleep in and we pay $100.00/month to stay with my family. But I was told from HIS mother that we were just SPONGING off of her. Mind you, while we were down there, she never had any money. She had to borrow $160.00 off of her daughter for food, but when her grand-daughters birthday came around, she had $40.00 worth of presents, a cake, ice-cream, balloons, cookies, clothes.. the whole 9 yards. And now, I believe everything her mother, and sisters, her son, everything anyone said about her. She is the sponge.
So please, some insight would be nice, because when I was told that I was a sponge, my heart sank. Am I wrong?
